New Iyengar classes at the Dharma Circle
Iyengar Yoga is a dynamic, alignment-based yoga based on the authentic teachings of many thousands of years. The proponent was BKS Iyengar, an inspiring Indian Yogi who lived and taught until 2014. Iyengar yoga stretches and strengthens every part of the body and is a complete exercise system for the body and mind. It is methodical and appropriate for all levels of ability and for all ages. You start where you are and progress.
Poses are taught with an individual focus through:
Instruction
Demonstration
Adjustment
The use of props to enable correct alignment
Teachers are highly trained and familiar with modifying poses for those with injuries and restriction.
Through this mindful practice of the body, the mind responds and becomes calm.
